Here’s a simple recipe for milk brioche:
Ingredients:
- 1 cup warm milk (105-115°F)
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 3 large eggs
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
Instructions:
- Activate the yeast: In a large bowl, combine the warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let stand for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- Add eggs and butter: Add the eggs and softened butter to the yeast mixture. Beat with a whisk or stand mixer until well combined.
- Add dry ingredients: Gradually add the flour and salt to the wet ingredients, mixing with a wooden spoon or dough hook attachment until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough: Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Rise: Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, turning to coat all sides. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Shape and bake: Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf or rolls. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Let rise again for 30 minutes.
- Bake: Preheat oven to 350°F. Brush the loaf or rolls with egg wash (1 egg beaten with 1 tablespoon water). Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
Let the brioche cool slightly before slicing and serving. Enjoy! 🍞
